Sandra is a bilingual Los Angeles-based Dietitian and food educator with many years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She works with families and children encouraging healthy beginnings. Sandra focuses on promoting healthy eating and physical activity as a means of promoting lasting lifestyle changes. Sandra enjoys working with a variety of clients from busy professionals to new parents to aiming adapt these easy practices at home for lasting impact. Sandra provides savvy nutrition advice that is easy, fun , and ready to go!
Sandra has a background in Public Health and Project Management. She received her B.S., in Biology with an emphasis in Microbiology from Cal State University, Northridge and received her Master’s Degree in Public Health & Nutrition from the Loma Linda University. She received her Registered Dietitian license through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2007 and completed coursework in Project Management at UCLA Extension. Sandra also holds ServSafe Certification and is a Slow Food LA Master Food Preservation Advisor.
Sandra has made a few guest appearances in English and Spanish language media including the Buenos Dias! Morning Show, Primera Edicion, K-Earth 101 fm and Univision Radio. She was a guest blogger for Making Health Easier– a special project for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention focused on an overarching national obesity prevention campaign. Sandra has also consulted for a variety of workplaces aimed to improve the health of employees to promote wellness. She is a member of the: Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, The Los Angeles Dietetic Association, and The National Latina Business Women’s Association.
As a new Mom, Sandra loves spending time with her son and loves crafting gourmet baby food for her little sprout. She is passionate about food and loves how it is a medium to build and nurture communities. She enjoys being active and ran her first marathon in LA in March 2013. Among Sandra’s current projects are developing a cookbook and a cooking mini-series aimed at busy Moms with active babies.
